Our partnership with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

our Philanthropy

In August of 1995 at the 60th Grand Council in Memphis, Tennessee, Phi Delta Chi adopted St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as its national philanthropy. Since then, Phi Delta Chi has established our partnership with St. Jude by raising more than $1,000,000 as a cooperative effort of chapters across the nation. In honor of our works, The St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s outpatient pharmacy located on the first floor of the Patient Care Center was named in honor of Phi Delta Chi’s commitment. The Beta Alpha Chapter at St. John's University aims to contribute to our national philanthropic works, by raising money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital every year. Phi Delta Chi has held its partnership with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital with high regard since its collaboration. In 2007, our first goal was created in raising $200,000 by our Prescription For Hope program within 4 years for St. Jude. This goal was achieved in just 2 short years, and caused the outpatient pharmacy on the first floor of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to be named after Phi Delta Chi.

In 2010, another goal was set to raise $1,000,000 for St. Jude in 10 years. St. Jude recognized our support with the naming of an adjoining patient/parent room in gratitude of Phi Delta Chi. Patients need the support and love of their families during hospitalizations, yet they also need their own privacy from time to time. Adjoining parent rooms allow the parents to be there for their child when needed, while still giving both parents and patients the privacy they need. The goal of these adjoining patient/parent rooms is to provide comfort and privacy to both patients and parents. Through the dedication of our Brothers, friends and family, we were able to meet this goal in just 7 years.

At the 71st Grand Council in Arlington, Virginia, Phi Delta Chi's executive council announced another goal of raising another $1,000,000 for St. Jude in 7 years. The result will be a radiation oncology recovery suite being named after Phi Delta Chi.

Our partnership with St. Jude is one of our most cherished accomplishments as a fraternity, and pharmacy organization. St. Jude gives an opportunity for our Brothers, who have experienced the pain and suffering of childhood disease, to fight back and express their hope for a new future. The Beta Alpha Chapter hosts fundraising events every year to show our earnest support for this cause, and we hope that you can share our conviction in fighting childhood diseases as well.
