At the 60th Grand Council in Memphis, Tennessee, Phi Delta Chi's executive council ordered the creation of a non-profit aimed at advancing the leadership and educational missions of the fraternity. This charge led to the creation of the Pharmacy Leadership & Education Institute, Inc. (PLEI), which is recognized as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization by the Internal Revenue Service; EIN 582296988.
The institute aims to serve Phi Delta Chi's mission of training future leaders in pharmacy, by improving and enforcing professional competencies and relations of student pharmacists. PLEI does so by offering the Leader-Development Seminar, the Albert Benjamin Prescott Scholarship awarded to a pharmacist of less than 10 years who shows exemplary leadership, and a travel grant scholarship to each Leader-Development Seminar to subsidize registration costs.
